Person-Centred Therapy

Person-centred therapy, also known as client-centred therapy, is probably the most commonly used approach in counselling today. Person-centred counsellors focus on helping clients develop a greater understanding of themselves so that they can solve their own issues without direct intervention from the counsellor.

Person-centred therapists believe that the client is the expert in their own life and that they have the inner resources and the ability to create change in their lives. Counsellors offer an accepting, non-judgmental and valuing attitude towards the client; clients are valued as unique individuals whose thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and entire being are openly accepted, without conditions.
